The Tour Durban takes place on Sunday 29th April. Please can you let me know who has entered and for which race to help us with the catering after the event. If there is enough interest we will have a “Bus” in the open section of the 105km race. We would like to see as many members as possible at the Club site at the People’s Park after the events.
We have had a request to pre-ride the Tour Durban route. This is not entirely possible, because the M7 has too many trucks on it without road closure and the initial part of the M4 is out of bounds unless there is an official cycling event. We however propose as follows: Departing from Suncoast @ 6.00, we will head up Sarnia road (instead on the M7), up M19, turn into Blair Athol road (top on M19), and follow the Tour Durban route, then to Umhlanga (back roads), onto M4 at Umhlanga and turn at Sibaya. This will be as challenging as Tour Durban itself. For those wanting a shorter ride, you can either return to Suncoast from Riverside, or only goes as far as Umhlanga instead of Sibaya.
The Saturday road ride will be as usual from the Suncoast at 6h00. The MTB’ers will ride from Remos on Saturday and Sunday at 6h00. Note: The EMBA start times will be 6h30 from the 1st May.
With the longer nights fast approaching it is time to get your lights out. We suggest that both front and rear lights be used to ensure that we are seen from both directions.
Entries are still available for the GABRAN which takes place on the 11th to 13th May, contact Kelvin at kelvinv@iafrica.com
This weekend is a busy one for MTBing with amazing events taking place in PMB. There will be rides from Remos at 6h00 on Saturday and Sunday with nothing scheduled from Giba at this stage.
